Mea Culpa

2016 – present

This branch of the larger series, Noli Me Tangere, scrutinizes the idea of the Catholic guilt. It employs the feelings of shame, embarrassment, disgrace, self-condemnation and sorrow. Guilt, sins and the fear of Hell have a strong possession of the way many live their lives. Humanity is tied to the church and the morality it preaches. Somehow even the greatest sinner is aware of the engulfing burden that is their guilt. Guilt for sins they have committed.

Photographs are presented as both prayer cards and larger prints. The cards are designed, printed, cut, and screen printed with a specific accompanying prayer written by the artist. These prayers are inspired by the conversation that transpired between the models and the artist about their personal guilts.
